Description

We are a global company with a mission to advance the art and technology of visual experience. We know that creating an inclusive environment that values and encourages different perspectives is critical for our success, and the success of our people. We are learning, listening and taking action to be better and foster trust in our community. Our goal is to ensure every person working at Foundry feels safe and free to be themselves, to share their ideas or concerns and that there is equal access to opportunities for all.

The Role

We are looking for a self-motivated and inquisitive C++ programmer, with experience of commercial software development and knowledge of software engineering best practices. As a Software Engineer, you will help to ensure the quality, scalability, and extensibility of our code.

Reporting to your team’s Lead Engineer, your daily work will involve the design, implementation, documentation and testing of C++ and Python code, collaborating with other Software Engineers, QA Engineers and the team’s Product Manager to ensure that the code meets the requirements of the customer and is delivered in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

The Team

The Nuke Team consists of C++ Software Engineers and QA Engineers, who are responsible for developing, maintaining and improving features and workflows within the application.

Although at its heart Nuke is predominantly a compositing and image processing application, we don’t expect all of our engineers to be graphics and rendering gurus. Nuke is also a multi-OS customisable platform that allows users to import, process and export a variety of data formats, and presents an intuitive and efficient UI to the users to help them manage and manipulate that data.

The Nuke team is responsible for all aspects of making the application function. This could be anything from efficiently reading and decoding image data from disk into memory, efficient multi-threaded processing and managing of the data pipeline in the node graph, to implementing UI elements and workflows to improve the user experience.

Supported by the Product Design and Product Management teams, we function as multiple Agile teams, who each have ownership of their own backlog, and work together with their Product Owner and Product Designer in the specification, break-down, estimations and implementations of the work, taking it from concept through to release.

The Product

Our industry-leading NUKE® range offers cutting-edge toolkits covering node-based compositing, editorial and finishing across solutions that deliver unparalleled speed, functionality and collaboration possibilities.

Whether you're a single shot compositor or working across projects end to end, you can find all the tools you need to get the job done fast, without quality compromise, in NUKE STUDIO®, NUKEX®, or NUKE.

The Company

Foundry develops creative software for the digital design, media and entertainment industries. With a 20-year heritage and a portfolio of award-winning products, Foundry advances the art and technology of visual experience in partnership with creative leaders around the globe.

Clients and partners include major feature film studios and post-production houses such as Pixar, ILM, MPC, Walt Disney Animation, Weta Digital, DNEG, and Framestore as well as automotive, footwear, apparel and technology companies such as Mercedes, New Balance, Adidas and Google. Foundry partners with these companies to solve complex visualization challenges to turn incredible ideas into reality.

The company’s products are used to create breathtaking visual effects sequences on a wide range of feature films, video-on-demand, television and commercials. Foundry software was integral in the making of every VFX Oscar-winning film, award-winning TV shows and commercials for more than a decade.

Founded in 1996, Foundry is headquartered in London, with 300 staff and a presence in the US, China, Japan, Australia and Europe. In 2015, the London Stock Exchange named Foundry one of the “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain.” It regularly features in The Sunday Times’ Tech Track as one of Britain’s fastest-growing private technology companies.
