As you may not be aware about this opportunity, I wanted to highlight that the Vienna House Andel's Berlin Hotel offers accessibility rooms for those who need them.
Meeting C++ in Berlin has been visited by folks in wheel chairs, and I thought I highlight this possiblity. Recently when looking through pictures provided by my hotel contact, I've seen aboves picture of an accessible bathroom, which sparked my interest in finding out more about them. While I knew they existed, I didn't know the Hotel has actually 14 rooms of them, and that they each have a twin room for an assistant to stay. So if such a room is needed for your stay, wether you bring a wheel chair or not - now you know that its possible.
Visiting Meeting C++ 2025
While you can book all this on your own, it may be easier for you to plan this with Meeting C++. That way I know that you are coming to the conference, and my hotel contact can arrange things for you. The Andel's is fully accessible with its elevators. You'll need a ticket, for your assistant this is optional. If you can support Meeting C++ buying a ticket is an option, but a support ticket is also available to you.
Mentioning Cippi
I've recently visited Rainer Grimm, and one of the things he showed me was Cippi, a small Doll made by his wive that he sends on a journey to various C++ conferences. He does this to raise awareness for ALS and others, and sends her as a representative of him on his travels. Rainer told me also about this new and special wheel chair, and that he is waiting for the eye tracking addon to be able to move around independently. We didn't talk about visiting Meeting C++ in Berlin, Rainer told me he plans to submit for the online track this year again. For the future, a visit in Berlin stays an option. But as Rainer does not live close to Berlin, the travel maybe a bit of challenge for him at the moment.
Meeting C++ 2025 is hybrid
While there exists an option to travel to Berlin, for many this is not an option. That is why Meeting C++ is hybrid, so that everyone in the community has a chance to attend.
